Year 6 Teaching Assistant

I have worked as a Learning Assistant since 2017. I grew up in Egypt and came to Dubai since 2009 with my husband and two children.

My previous experience was working with corporate and multinational companies as Human Resources but I always had this thought of working in a school and supporting students as much as I can. That thought turned into reality in 2014 when I started working in one of the top IB schools in Dubai but I always had a dream to be able to join the DBS family one day.

I love teaching young kids and I like to explore more ways of supporting them, I try my best to suggest new ways of doing things and to introduce fun activities that kids would enjoy. I have had the opportunity with the support of management to organize book swaps for kids, English week where we read stories to primary kids with a very special reading buffet, ice cream truck treat, participate in happiness day with a few ideas and organizing some wellbeing methods for staff too.

I’ve been trying to study and learn more on how to support kids so managed to do a course on dyslexia and was able to learn so many things from it in addition to attending online training to enrich my experience.

In my free time, I like to read, go to the gym, travel with my family and play with my children.

Best moment in teaching

is when I take part in giving the children the skills they need to go out into the world and succeed and to help them build self-esteem and to be able to do that in a fun, creative setting.
